Cecil Beaton      Cecil Beaton was born on January 14th, 1904 and passed on January 18th, 1980. He was a very well rounded English Artist. He did photography, painting, interior design, and many others. I admire his interior design interest because I exetremly love decorating houses and making things look pretty. He also did Oscar winning costume and stage design. He must of been very creative to excel in all of these areas. 

Cindy Sherman   Cindy Sherman born on January 19, 1954 is still living today. She is an American Photographer as well as a film director. This is the first film director I have done which is surprising that more people don't do both. She is best known for her conceptual portraits. She likes to shoot alone in her studio where she takes on many rolls like photographer, director, subject, and make up artist. She is still currently creating work to keep up with her reputation. 

Eddie Adams   Eddie Adams was born on June 12th, 1933 and passed on September 18th, 2004. He was an American photographer as well as a photojournalist. He was well known for his work of celebrities and politicians, as well coverage of many wars. He received many awards for his work during the wars and became very recognized by people. He died in 2004 due to complications with a health struggle. He is still remembered to this day for his work and great photography.   

Alfred Eisebstaedt    Alfred was born on December 6th, 1898 and passed on August 23rd, 1995. He was a German born American photographer who started his work per-world war 2. After the war he became a photographer for Life magazine. His photos were used for over 90 covers and 2,500 on the inside spreads. His most famous piece was on V-day where a sailor was kissing a nurse in a dip with people all around the. Almost everyone has seen this picture and it was his great photography that captured the moment. 

Diane Arbus.       Diane Arbus born on March 14, 1923 and lived till July 26, 1971. She was an American photographer who was well known for her work of marginalized people. (dwarfs, giants, trans genders, nudist, and circus people) These were all people who were viewed at the time by the world as "ugly." He parents who owned a Fifth Avenue store were wealthy and because of it did not suffer during the great depression. Her brother became a professor in St. Louis which I found interesting. Her love of photography of people who are different was really amazing and special that she found interest in that.

Irving Penn    Irving Penn known for his arresting images and masterful printmaking. He was in Vogue magazine top photographers for more than 6 size years. Irving actually hated the limelight and tried to stay out at all cost. He went to a industrial art college where he gained his love for photography and allowed it to flourish.  He had a very good eye for still life photography. He loved to focus big things like a Vogue magazine as well as "small trade" jobs. He was very well rounded and versatile in his work. 

  Annie Leibovitz        Annie Leibovitz was born on October 2nd, 1949 and is still living today. She is an American portrait photographer. She is most known for her many album covers and magazines. She was the first ever women to hold an exhibition at Washington's National  Portrait Gallery in 1991. She got her passion for photographer from her mom who was a fan of dance, music, and painting. She worked for the Rolling Stones magazine, but while doing that she always made time to do work of her family. Family meant the most to her. I admire Annie a lot being a women myself. She has many great characteristics to look up to.

  Robert Capa       Robert Capa, who's original name was Endre Friedmann, was born on October 22, 1913 and lived till May 25, 1954. He was a Hungarian war photographer and photojournalist. Some argue he was the best adventure photographer around. He risked his life many times during his career to get the shots or get close to the action. He was awarded many awards for his war photos. He was born from a Jewish family in Budapest and moved away for college. Jews were later banned from his college so he moved to Paris where he adopted the name Robert Capa.   

Alex Bolen         Since I have done all older photographers so far, I decided to do a more modern and current photographer. Alex Bolen, owner of Shutter Darlings Photography is one my favorite photoragpers right now. She went to the same high school as me about 5 years before I did. She cheered and would come back to take pictures of the cheerleaders which is how I met her. Her work is so dreamy and always so creative which is why I love it. She got a few minutes in fame for a rainbow baby picture she created. I was in love with this picture.  

William Eggleston        Eggleston was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 27, 1939. He was an American photography who was most well known for his pictures of every day random objects. He had a way of making the people wonder what they were looking at. He was one of the people who helped establish color photography. At a young age he was interested in visual arts which led him down the path of photography. He was inspired by many different photographers which helped mold him into the photographer he became. 

Ansel Adams          Ansel Adams was born in February 1902 and later died April 1984. He was an American photographer and environmentalist. He is extremely well known for his black and white landscapes. Adams and another photographer developed "Zone Systems"  to determine proper exposure. He created his own photography group along with some fellow photographers.

Helen Levitt             Helen Levitt was born in August 1913 and later died in March 2009. She was an American photographer living in New York. She also liked to capture street photography.  She dropped out of high school to work for a photographer. That is how she learned to develop photos in the dark room.  Her photographs were later published in " In The Streets: chalk drawings and messages, New York City 1938-1948. She has been called "the most celebrated and least known photographer of her time."

Walker Evans             Walker Evans was born in November 1903 and later died April 1975. He was an American photographer as well as a photo journalist. He was actually born in St. Louis, Missouri. He began photography once he was living in New York. He was most known for his FSA or Farm Security Administration work.  He once said his goal as a photographer was to create pictures that are "literate, authoritative, transcendent". By documenting the effects of the Great Depression he was able to do just that. 

Henri Cartier-Bresson             Henri was a French Humanist photographer, who was a pro at capturing candid moments. He was born in August 1908 and died not to long ago in August 2004. He was a role model to many future photographers. He mainly captured people on the streets in their day to day lives. He actually attempted a music and painting career before photography. He later got into film making and photo journalism where he would show more of his work.  

Dorothea Lange             Dorthea Lang was born in May 1895 and died later in her life in October 1965. At a young age she developed polio which left her right leg weakened. She was an American Photographer who was well known for her work during the Depression-Era. Lange went to school to become a photographer. She decided to travel the world with a friend but was robbed in San Fransisco, which led her to stay there. Eventually she opened her own studio and was married. She was able to capture the real lives of the people during the depression.

Sally Mann         Sally Mann is an American born photography who specializes in portrait photography. She is rather different then normal photographers though. She liked to capture children, sexuality, and death, things that were out of the norm. All of which were very controversial topics at that time. She got introduced to photography from her father as a little girl and later on as a teenager took it on for herself. Later in her career she published images of twelve year old girls called "At Twelve" that were published in one of her books. She released a series of photos in 1992 called "Immediate Family" that people were very concerned about. Many were concerned that her work resembled child pornography or that she was exploiting her children. She felt the pictures were a ordinary thing for mothers to see in their everyday life.
