Sally Mann (Entry 1)
Sally Mann
Sally Mann is an American born photography who specializes in portrait photography. She is rather different then normal photographers though. She liked to capture children, sexuality, and death, things that were out of the norm. All of which were very controversial topics at that time. She got introduced to photography from her father as a little girl and later on as a teenager took it on for herself. Later in her career she published images of twelve year old girls called "At Twelve" that were published in one of her books. She released a series of photos in 1992 called "Immediate Family" that people were very concerned about. Many were concerned that her work resembled child pornography or that she was exploiting her children. She felt the pictures were a ordinary thing for mothers to see in their everyday life. There are two films out about her life https://www.britannica.com/biography/Sally-Mann
